This is an original antique oil painting on board featuring a study of a famous Collie Dog, fully signed bottom right by the artist J.W. Battey and dated 1892 by him, the dog is also titled on the original mat "Hadfield Monarch Winner of 15 First Prizes and 7 Special Prizes At Leading Shows Under One Year Old The Property Of Ernest Charlton Breeder and Exhibitor" the painting is in very good original condition in its original mat, it is not framed, this is a rare and important very early painting of a champion show Collie, overall size including mat approx. 14.5" x 12" actual image size approx. 8" x 6"
